We have been busy carrying out lots of roof cleans in Nottinghamshire this year, and this roof clean was in Ravenshead. For this particular roof clean, we manually scraped the roof to rid it of all the visible moss that was growing. We then cleaned the roof chemically ensuring the best result. We will return to apply a biocide treatment on the roof  to prevent future re-growth for around 3-5 years. The gutters were then all cleaned out to stop blockage and damage caused by the rain. This Roof will continue to self clean due to the biocide treatment applied. This will also prevent further moss and algae re-growth, giving the roof a longer life span.

 

What are the benefits of a roof clean?

Many people think that the only benefit of having a roof clean is the aesthetic side of it. The reality is it is much more than that. Algae, Lichens & Moss are literally living and feeding on your roof tiles and mortar joints. The longer they are on the roof the deeper they root themselves into the tiles which will speed up the deterioration of the roof tiles. When you have your roof cleaned, you are protecting the roof, prolonging the life of it and at the same time making the roof look aesthetically pleasing.

 

Why don't we offer roof pressure washing?

Although there are still companies offering roof jet washing, it isn't something we offer. We use our Soft wash system as it is the safest way of roof cleaning which also keeps the roof cleaner for longer. Many of the tile manufacturers will clearly state the use of Pressure is not recommended for the cleaning of roof tiles.  It should be manually removed using a roof scraper designed for the specific roof tile.
