After time, gutters do become full or blocked. This is due to moss on the roof, leaves that fall and make their way into your gutters, debris dropped by birds and a buildup of algae that is formed. This means that when it rains the water has nowhere to drain down to and it will then sit in your gutters allowing more buildup or it overflows on to the floor below and not into the drainage.
When gutters are left and you do not have a gutter clean, this allows the water that sits in your gutters to seep into the building and cause damp, mould and structural damage . If water has been overflowing onto the floor below, this will cause algae build up on the floor making it green and slippery.
We often see damage to the side of the house too where water has trickled down the walls causing black/green marks making it unpleasant to look at as well as damaging the brickwork and causing mould on the inside of the wall.
If this sounds all too familiar to you, it's time to get a gutter clean. Our job is to ensure all your gutters are safely cleared out using specific equipment and safety procedures.
